A 21st Century Community Learning Center
Welcome to The Nest

The Nest, Franklin County School District’s after school program, begins Monday, August 30.
A Franklin County School District 21 st Century Community Learning Center, The Nest provides students in grades PreK-12 with a variety of academic, enrichment and recreational services. The staff of The Nest is committed to helping students achieve academic success and become well-rounded individuals.
The school district has two Nests, one at the Franklin County School (1250 Hwy. 98 in Eastpoint) and one at the Carrabelle Municipal Complex (1001 Gray Ave.) Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 2:30-6 p.m. at the school and 3:30-6:30 p.m. in Carrabelle.
The Nest seeks to improve students’ mastery of academic skills, through instruction by certified teachers and daily homework help. Character education and service learning projects will teach students to become responsible, empathetic citizens; a variety of art and enrichment projects will encourage creativity and foster a love of learning and daily physical education classes will teach students the importance of a healthy, active lifestyle. All services, including daily snacks, are free to all participants.
Parents are encouraged to become active participants in their child’s academic and social success. The Nest will host parent education classes, parent nights and other special events.
The Nest is made possible by a federal grant from the U. S. Department of Education.
Applications are available at the Franklin County Learning Center, Franklin County School and Carrabelle Municipal Complex. Applications may also be downloaded here and returned to the site of your choosing.

Naming The Nest

In April, the students in the Franklin County School District's afterschool program held a contest to rename the program. Zach Pittman and Tyler Rowell, students from the Carrabelle site, collaborated on the winning name, "The Nest." Brittani Chambers, a Carrabelle enrichment leader, sketched a design for the logo, which was transformed into our official logo by Bay Media owner Cindy Clark.
